Amanda Baker

Sugar Technician

"One morning my Grandma called saying she had a dream I was in beauty school and absolutely loving it, two weeks later I was enrolled, and nearly 2 decades later here I am, still loving it!

My favorite thing about my career is the relationships I have built over the years, I don't just "do hair", I love people. Growing my clientele has grown my family, I take care of my guests the way I take care of my own and I enjoy making them feel confident and important. I also love the freedom Roots Spa & Salon allows me to be myself and to be a Mom."

"As the longest running Sugar Technician in Cape Girardeau I am able to put new guests at ease, make the hair removal less painful than most and faster than most, with many of my 'Brazilian Sugars' being in and out in 15 minutes! Whether I am behind the chair or removing hair I am happy, caring, and grateful for each new day."

Rachael Shirley

Licensed Esthetician

Sugar Technician

Rachael's goal in life is to make others feel good about themselves, whether it's through conversation with friends, compliments to strangers, or by achieving desired results with professional services and home care recommendations!

"After learning some of the negative effects traditional personal care products can have on the body,

I switched to health-conscious beauty and never looked  back. I love that at Roots I am able to combine my knowledge in skin physiology with the award-winning Eminence Organic Skin Care line to create unique treatments and home care routines for each guest.

Sugaring is also a lot of fun for me! The results are so satisfying and I love how happy my clients are with it. My favorite sugaring service has to be either underarms or Brazilian.

Whichever service I am performing, my goal is to help you feel beautiful in your own skin.

You are worthy.

You are loved."

Growing her passion of health-conscious beauty, she loves to achieve gorgeous glossy colors with O&M without compromising the hair or the planet.

She offers a safe space for guests, creating gender-affirming styles, textures, and colors to find the perfect look for each person.

Stephanie Brown

I enjoy working with all humans, I just love working with people, all genders, all ages. It's important to me that my clients always feel safe and valued. I am here to help you feel like a million bucks, anyway I can!

My name is Stephanie Brown and I have been a Cosmetologist for 12 years. Since 2019 I've become focused on a healthier lifestyle which brought me to becoming part of the Roots Spa & Salon family. As an Original Mineral salon, we use an ethical and cruelty-free professional brand that prioritizes the health of the client and our environment!

One of my specialties is beard detailing & short cuts, involving clippers and fades. With the every day evolution of hair styles, many now intermix clipper short sides with lots of texture and length on top and back and I would LOVE to customize a style for you.

In our health-conscious salon I also take pride in making my clients hands and feet feel amazing in a way that is less toxic than traditional nail services. As a ZOYA nail specialist, I do manicures and pedicures using the first brand to remove toxic ingredients such as toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and DBP (dibutyl phthalate) from its formulation.

Spring is almost upon us! Let's get your hands and feet ready!

My focus is to always be sure that my clients and I are on the same page. I may ask more questions than you're used to because an excellent consultation ensures we are working towards the same goals.

If you haven't visited Roots Spa & Salon on Independence yet, this is your sign, I'll see you soon!

Megon Rousseau

Sheila and I grew Roots Spa & Salon through our hearts and hands as the only service providers for years before we brought on more team members. Our lives have transitioned us into different roles and we are no longer performing services. Instead, we are blessed with an incredible team to care for our guests! While our physical presence is no longer a constant, we hope you can still feel our love through what we've created and the team we've assembled for you.

Choosing like-minded individuals to take care of our guests has always been important to us to ensure our values and mission are upheld. Roots Spa & Salon in Cape Girardeau will always be a place you can trust to provide products that are conscientious of the health of our guests, providers, and our planet. They are passionate and kind individuals who love customizing services and creating the best experience for your mental and physical well-being.

Whoever you visit at Roots Spa & Salon
